Wedding in Mauritius

Want your Wedding in Mauritius? Here are useful information you will need to make it possible.

While some couples may choose to tie the knot on a remote island off the Mauritian coast, on board a yacht, or even underwater, the majority opt for a ceremony in their hotel. Among the most popular hotels are the picturesque Trou aux Biches, the luxurious Royal Palm, Prince Maurice, Dinarobin and Le Touessrok, Shandrani, The Residence, Belle Mare Plage, Beau Rivage, Paradise Cove, Maritim Hotel, Legends and La Pirogue, with weddings taking place on the beach or at a decorated location in the hotel's grounds.

Marrying in Mauritius is easy. Both bride and groom have to be over 18 (or have legal parental consent).
2 copies of the following documents must be sent 8 weeks ahead of the wedding date to the Tour Operator:

- Completed application form for non-residents to marry
- 10-year valid Passports - Birth certificates
- Decree absolute (if divorced)
- Deed poll (if your name has changed)
- Death certificate & previous marriage certificate if widowed
- 2 passport-size photographs each

Documents not in English must be translated into English and duly stamped. Documents arriving less than 8 weeks before the wedding may incur charges. You must take with you the originals of all the above documents as your wedding may have to be cancelled if all documents are not presented.

And a little Mauritian red tape before the confetti... if the bride-to-be has been divorced in the last 10 months, she will need a Mauritian doctor's certificate of non-pregnancy.

Couples need to be on the island 3 working days prior to the ceremony and most hotels require a minimum stay of 7 nights.
Before the big day, a visit to Port Louis will be arranged to sign affidavits.

There is a professional Tour Operator here in Mauritius that can take care of all these for you. Just visit Mauritius Holidays and get in contact with them. Mauritius Holidays team will give you all the help to make this special event the most successful Wedding in Mauritius.
